Overview

There are approximately 40,000,000 people in Latin America and the Caribbean that belong to some 600 Indigenous nations across the continent, many of whom are located in what is now Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia and Ecuador. It is estimated that 12% of the entire Latin American population and approximately 40% of the rural population is of indigenous descent.
