Transcanada Oil Pipeline Summit

By John Ahni Schertow

This video is part of a two-hour Summit held in July 2010 to educate Nebraskans and the general public on the dangers of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, a 1,980-mile long pipeline that would transport crude oil from the tar sands in northern Alberta to America’s Gulf Coast.

Fortunately, in recent weeks the U.S. State Department decided to delay its decision on whether to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. But even so, it may be just a matter of time before TransCanda gets the approval. So it’s still very important to inform ourselves about the pipeline and what it means for the environment.

In addition to the XL, speakers at the summit discussed several other issues including the current Keystone 1 pipeline, the Albert Clipper, and the general array of environmental problems and catastrophes surrounding the tar sands.

The runtime of this video, which is divided into eight segments, is approximately 70 minutes. If you’d like to view each segment individually, please visit http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5D5AA536747298B0
