Thanks Everyone for the Donations!

By John Ahni Schertow

If you are one of the three dozen people who chipped in during our recent fundraiser, we want to thank you. With your help, we were able to raise a total of $1806.00, giving us just enough money to secure Intercontinental Cry into the late summer months.

We may not have reached our goal of $2400, nevertheless, this was our most successful fundraiser yet–and we are very grateful for that. Unlike most major online news publishers, we don’t have any financial backers to help us in a crunch. We don’t get grants or foundation funding. We have only you, our beloved readers, to keep us going.

A donation isn’t just a free wad of cash to us. It’s an honor and it’s a sincere request for us to continue what we are doing. We intend to do just that.

As a side note, we also know that there were several other important fundraisers running concurrently with our own. These included the Great Plains Tar Sands Resistance campaign, the Unist’ot’en Camp, the Ainu Maori Exchange, and the fundraiser for the film, Fractured Land. These are all worthwhile projects that deserved every bit of support they received–and we are thrilled they were able to reach their goals. It’s tough raising money for efforts that challenge governments and corporations.

Nia:wen (Thank You),
