we were not a lawless people when the Europeans arrived onto the territories of Indigenous people. Its understanding and re-vitalizing those laws that is critical and integral to our wellbeing. All of our laws are connected to land, this is our POGG. Since the Indian act and various other legislative acts have illegalized our Nations, these laws have had to go “underground”. I’m glad to hear Taiaiake speak about this “emptiness”, we need our laws to back to nurture and guide our people, it is what the Creator gave us. Kinanaskomtinawaw mina kehtwam.
