September 9, 2007 | Leave a Comment | 526 views

On Thursday, the Nadleh Whut’en posted signs warning non-native logging contractors to leave the Vanderhoof District west of Prince George. They’ve also begun positioning themselves for a blockade, which they originally intended to set up on August 31st.

At the time, Chief Martin Louie said they don’t really want to set up a blockade, but they’re being left with no choice, because the contractors just won’t leave.

“We are going to go in first and ask the [non-native logging contractors] to leave and if they don’t, then we’ll do what …

Aswell, Police say non-aboriginal people who have been bringing medicine and food may now be arrested for “aiding in illegal movement.”

Updates will be posted as I come across them.

Secondly, here’s a radio interview with Robert Lovelace on Healing the Earth Radio. Robert, a retired chief of …

August 30, 2007 | One Comment | 772 views

As it turns out, the OPP did not forcefully remove those at the site yesterday. An hour-long meeting did take place however, between three OPP officers and six leaders of the Ardoch and Sharbot First Nations.

During the meeting, Insp. Garry MacPherson, head of the OPP’s Aboriginal Relations Team, said the OPP lawyers haven’t gone over the injunction yet, so at the moment they don’t have any plans to act. He also said that if it’s determined the OPP must follow the judge’s order, the OPP will warn everyone ahead of time. “We’re not going to sneak in. We’re …
