I wish developing countries would learn the lessons the US and others are now facing: in the US we are dismanteling hydroelectric dams because of their disruption to the riverine ecosystem; not to mention indigenous peoples way of life. There are now alternatives to developing electrical power that do not require dams. We need to continue fighting to give indigenous peoples a voice in these policy decisions - they have the same rights as we do.
