Arhuacos from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains in northern Colombia, share a message of friendship and unity with the world’s Indigenous Peoples.

At a recent gathering in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains of Colombia , the Elder Mamos warned that we only have another 50 years before the oceans begin to flood us in our lands, the earth becomes barren and sterile, and the sun itself begins to burn us..

However, the Mamos said that we can prevent this from happening if we defend the land, walk together in a spiritual way and teach the message of protecting Mother Earth and maintaining a good relationship with all life, not merely some aspects of it..

To carry this work forward, the Arhuacos in this video also wish to extend a hand of friendship to all the world’s Indigenous Peoples:for “good relations… to save humanity.”

We're fighting for our lives

Indigenous Peoples are putting their bodies on the line and it's our responsibility to make sure you know why. That takes time, expertise and resources - and we're up against a constant tide of misinformation and distorted coverage. By supporting IC you're empowering the kind of journalism we need, at the moment we need it most.
