Located in what is now northeastern Ecuador and southeastern Colombia, the Cofan (A’i) are a riverine people that firmly established themselves in the headwaters of several rivers in the area
Today numbering less than 2,000, the Cofan are establishing themselves as the vanguard of indigenous conservation efforts, taking on the task of caring for over a million acres of rain forest in Ecuador and large areas in adjacent Colombia.
