the dine peoples of big mountain have been urged, coersed and arm-wrenched into relocation too...no matter how seemingly nice these places are it is forced relocation...away from ancestral homes...and not with the welfare of those moved in mind..

Tibet was a sovereign Nation and not part of China until the
Chinese invaded. It is an absolute tragedy that the Tibetan culture
is being lost. Tibet should be free to determine it's own destiny.
I certainly wish that there was more concern with the rights of
Tibetans by the rest of the world which has largly ignored the
occupation of Tibet by China. The US could do more alas, it is
business as usual.

I'm glad people are reporting on this...I was in Lhasa last May and had the sad opportunity to see much of this firsthand. The newly constructed apartment buildings really contrast with the colorful, richly decorated traditional Tibetan architecture. What's more, they're pretty much just big boxes without much luxury; the apartments are small and cramped, and they smell.

My heart goes out to the Tibetan people...
