About Intercontinental Cry

Intercontinental Cry (IC) is an independent volunteer-run magazine that provides intelligent news and analysis, insightful videos and hard-hitting commentary in support of the global indigenous movement.

At Intercontinental Cry, we are committed to defending Indigenous rights and informing the international community about the struggles of all Indigenous Peoples to defend those rights.

We strive to accomplish this by publishing uncompromising grassroots journalism and commentary from some of the sharpest minds around. We also offer weekly videos, monthly reports, press releases and the occasional cross-posted story from one of our trusted friends. Everything on IC is meant to inform, challenge, educate and inspire.

Background

Intercontinental Cry was formed in 2004 by John Ahni Schertow. After spending more than two years observing a persistent lack of news coverage concerning Indigenous Peoples, Ahni decided to address the problem directly, with a volunteer-driven website that would put Indigenous Peoples first. Since then, IC has become one of the most popular news platforms of its kind.
